KENLEY  LOFTS

Caswell&Dainow negotiated the purchase of a large overgrown corner plot in Croydon where a derelict bungalow was hidden behind a wall of vegetation and ivy. Accessed by a hobbit like green door, the plot had been hidden from view for many years.

Caswell&Dainow’s design aimed to reconcile the line of built form at the junction of Little Roke Road and Lower Road and act as a contemporary focal point for the area. The scale, proportions, and forms of the proposed scheme were carefully considered relative to Croydon’s design guidelines and the surrounding buildings. Its shape allowed a clear distinction between each building unit, which at the same time read as part of one family.
